Motorcycle tankbags are portable storage containers that rest on top of a motorcycle's fuel tank. These bags come in many sizes and configurations and are often constructed of a durable, flexible, textile material.
Some of these bags come with a rain cover, and others have optional rain covers that may be purchased. A common feature of a tankbag is a see-through pouch, which allows the rider to display a map, or a portion of a map, on the top of the tankbag. Many tankbags have magnetic mounting hardware, which makes them easy to attach and detach from the motorcycle. However, not all motorcycle fuel tanks are steel. Some tanks are aluminum or use some other composite material. Other tanks are plastic. Hence, for these latter motorcycle tanks, a strap-on design is required. Some manufacturers provide their tankbags with both strap-on as well as magnetic attaching systems. Other tankbags have only one or the other attachment option available.
